My Thoughts
This is very stereotypical sci-fi. There are elements of fantasy, but the overall feel is a first contact or end of humanity sci-fi.
Overall I thought the book was well structured and well written. The perspective that it is written from (very tell, not show) is not my preference and that made it hard for me to get into. But that is the same reason I DNF Dune, so if that is what you like, it is probably a good thing.
I really liked the combination of sci-fi and fantasy. I felt it could have gone more into the fantasy, but that is my preferred genre.
I really loved the scenes of a particular scientist reaching out to the unknown instead of just destroying it. That is all I’m going to say.
I would have loved more descriptions of the villain’s point of view.
The narrator was great, but the editing made it difficult to tell where the chapters and points of view changed.
Overall, it wasnโt my cup of tea, but it was well done and I think I need to know what happens in book 2.
Description
In the depths beneath Geneva, the Large Hadron Collider fractures more than particles, it fractures reality.
A single forbidden experiment tears open a breach between worlds, letting ancient gods and cosmic forces seep into our own. As global systems falter, a hidden circle of scientists and power-brokers welcomes the chaos, pledging themselves to these rising entities in exchange for unthinkable power.
Dr. Evelyn Shaw, the physicist who first detected the anomaly, realises the breach wasn’t an accident, it was engineered. Forced into the shadows, she joins an unlikely trio: Marcus Flynn, a disgraced journalist desperate for redemption; Colonel John Harrows, a soldier waging a private war; and Zara Akhtar, a prodigy hacker with scores to settle.
Together, they race to expose the cabal’s plan before the gods they’ve summoned reshape the world in their own image. As time bends, cities crumble, and the laws of physics begin to fail, each of them must confront the truth: saving humanity may demand a sacrifice none of them are ready to make.
Collider is a high-stakes fusion of science, myth, and apocalyptic suspense, an adrenaline-charged journey to the edge of existence, where knowledge becomes a weapon, power has a price, and reality can be rewritten with a single misstep.
