A dark look at two relationships that are more similar than they appear.

This book is a must read if you like: Goodbye Earl, girls girls, female empowerment to an extreme, from the mind of a killer

Quick Thoughts (No spoilers)

The tone is from the POV of the female main character and is a pragmatic, mostly positive tone. This really serves the story in a lot of ways.

I binged this book twice. I really love the song Good-bye Earl by The Chicks and this book is a perfect homage to that song.

I really enjoyed the way this book presented the story. I loved the representation of women’s relationships with men and how they are impacted.

I haven’t read a novella like this one before. I love the true crime vibe of this book and how it tackles different types of relationships.

I really loved the foreshadowing in this book. It is so well written and doesn’t feel like a novella.

The narrator was brilliant. Her delivery really captured the tone of the character and she made the non-English words very approachable

The one scene aside, I really enjoyed this book and as long as you are good with the trigger warnings it is a GREAT read!

More Thoughts (Spoilers)

Spoilers ahead!!!! There is a moment in the last half of Chapter 13 where the author is solidifying the need for the abuser to die and he threatens the kitten and is clearly going to kill the cat and kitten. He doesn’t hurt them, but it is a VERY intense scene and I didn’t like it AT ALL. I understand why it is in there but you may want to skip the last half of chapter 13. Just know he is a bad guy and deserves to die.
